Description region
On the southern flank of the Sierra Nevada in Spain is one of the most beautiful regions of Andalusia: the Alpujarras. This beautiful landscape with its fertile valleys, impressive mountains and white villages is the ideal terrain for a holiday in a peaceful and authentic environment.
The Alpujarras have had a turbulent history with periods of prosperity, wars and depopulation. The glory period dates from the reign of the Nasrids. Thanks to the production of silk, there was a lot of work in the region back then. Everything changed in 1492 when the Catholic Kings took over Granada. Boabdil, the last Moorish sultan, initially received the area as a loan. With him many Muslims went to this area.
