Description region
In Dutch tv program "The Spanish village of Polopos" 5 couples aim to breathe new life into the southern Spanish village of Polopos in the Sierra Nevada region.
The village currently has only 58 inhabitants, but is ambitious: they really want to put Polopos on the map. And that task is up to the Dutch and we can go and see if this has succeeded.
The Sierra de la Contraviesa extends between the River Guadalfeo and the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and is part of the Alpujarra, in particular the Lower Alpujarra, in the province of Granada. Until today, the landscape has retained its authenticity, beautiful fertile hills and mountains on which fruit trees grow and vegetables are grown. Occasionally you will find the picturesque villages with the whitewashed houses and typical flat roofs on the mountain slopes. And in between there is a great way to connect everything together.
