Description region
Guadalupe in Spain is located in the east of the Extremadura region, the mountain village is at an altitude of 640 meters in the Sierra de Guadalupe, one of the foothills of the Montes de Toledo.
According to legend, a shepherd found a statue of the Virgin Mary, a black madonna by the river Guadalupe at the end of the thirteenth century. The shepherd built a chapel and a village arose around the sanctuary. Since the first shrine, Guadalupe became a place of pilgrimage, and with its black Madonna is now one of the most important places of pilgrimage in Spain after the famous Santiago de Compostela.
After the route over the hills with beautiful views and a lot of natural beauty with birds of prey high up in the air, the route arrives in the Guadalupe nature park, where you can indulge in the winding roads that lead you through this park. Arriving in Guadalupe it is recommended to take an accompanying tour to visit the monastery, even as fanatical motorcyclists, we found that a surprising addition to our day on the motorcycles and now know that there is a black Madonna.
