Description region
The reservoirs of Ardales and El Chorro with its King's Path "Camino del Rey" will certainly leave a big impression. Behind this gorge lie the large reservoirs and water basins that supply the coast with water.
A system of canals and aguaducts ensure a constant supply of water to the coastal towns such as Málaga and Torremolinos.
In the area just south of the city of Antequera, a picturesque road leads you to "El Torcal", a beautiful natural park that was recently declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
It is one of the best and most spectacular examples of karst relief in all of Europe. The huge limestone plateau was formed by water and wind more than 200 million years ago and has taken on surrealistic forms. The rarity and beauty of its strange formations offers the Torcal an impressive landscape that is considered unique in the world.
