Minas Rio Tinto Route
Description region
In the far west of Andalusia just above the city of Huelva is a beautiful unknown nature reserve.
Las Minas de Río Tinto, here nature was transformed into a "moon landscape" by human hands.
The slopes are completely excavated and have a deep red color because of this deep red colored soil, the area is known as the "red hill". History goes back 5000 years when copper mines have already been exploited here by the Iberians and later the Romans. At the time, the village housed more than 20,000 inhabitants who wanted to make a living in these mines.
In this beautiful but completely deserted area you can quickly get a feeling of complete loneliness or an adventurer who continues to follow the chosen path on his motorcycle.
